Skinceuticals Gel Peels combine scientifically proven ingredients in a unique gel delivery system. The peels work by accelerating the cell renewal process, stimulating collagen synthesis and improving elastin fibers in the dermis. These light chemical peels revitalise photodamaged and sensitive skin, help improve problematic skin and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These peels are recommended for use in a series of sessions.
A peel invlolves the application of a special solution containing alpha and beta hydroxl acids to the surface of the skin to reveal the fresh skin beneath. It can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including:
- Acne
- Rosacea
- Fine Wrinkling
- Blotchy skin
- Dry skin
- Age spots, freckles
- Sun damage
- Facial Pigmentation
Glycolic/Lactic
Peel Glycolic and lactic acid combine to work synergistically, exfoliating the skin while reducing irritation and dryness. Because of glycolic acid’s molecular structure, it penetrates quicker and deeper than other AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) to perform at all levels of the skin. Lactic acid is an effective, yet gentle, AHA that increases moisture levels by stimulating the production of glycosaminoglycans. This treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and is ideal for dry, photo-damaged and / or ageing skin.
Salicylic/Mandelic
PeelSalicyclic and mandelic acid combine to work synergistically, exfoliating the skin while decongesting pores and reducing irritation. Although one of the strongest AHAs, mandelic acid’s large molecular structure and even penetration help prevent inflammation and irritation that can sometimes occur with AHA use. Salicylic acid is a lipid soluble BHA (Betahydroxy Acid) that penetrates pores to dissolve sebum and cellular debris. This light chemical peel revitalises sensitive skin and is suited for people with oily or acneic skin, as well as for patients with darker complexions.
Medium Peels – penetrate the skin more deeply than light peels but do not require the extended recovery time of deep peels. After just a brief healing process, they deliver long lasting results.
TCA Peels
TCA skin peel treatments use trichloroacetic acid. They are used to rejuvenate facial skin by removing superficial blemishes, such as post-acne scars, correcting pigment problems (melasma) and smoothing fine surface wrinkles.
TCA peels are perfect for people who want more than a superficial peel but cannot afford the extensive recovery time of deeper peels. There is some peeling of the skin following treatment but this is short-lived, lasting for only about 2 days.
This procedure consists of four peels, one per week for four weeks.
ICP Peels
The Innovative Concept Peel is a special blend of superficial peel. It is a combination of salicylic acid, hydroquinone, kojic acid and phytonadione, which works by providing a safe and predictable means of removing surface skin cells and stimulating skin renewal. This visibly improves the skin surface, creating a more youthful appearance.
This peel involves only one visit to the clinic. During this appointment the clinician applies the peel, which is then left in place for anything from 2 to 8 hours, depending on skin type. Full instructions are given on how to remove the peel at home.
In order to maximise results, the client must then follow a comprehensive skincare programme over the following few weeks. All the products necessary for this skincare regime are included in the cost of the ICP peel. As this type of peel requires only one visit to the clinic, it is the medium depth peel of choice for many busy clients.
